Hip Hop Week
The Department of Theatre & Dance's annual Hip Hop Week brings renowned guest artists from around the country to campus with the goal of exploring Hip Hop’s profound impact on American culture, industry, and art. Artists and educators engage students and the local community in workshops, class visits across the curriculum, dance classes, performances, and more.

Wednesday, November 4
- 12 p.m. - Open Hip Hop DANC204 Dance Class with Deandra Clarke
- 12 p.m. - Art Walk and Graffiti Workshop in UR campus courtyard with The Art Seen and Silly Genius
- 7p.m. - Hip Hop in Marketing & Advertising with the Martin Agency, the King Agency, and the NY Liberty.
Thursday, November 5
- 12 p.m. - Hip Hop Trivia on the Forum
- 5 p.m. - Hip Hop Silent Headphone Party with DJ Rayvon
- 7 p.m. - The Remix: How Hip Hop Rewrote the Rules of Music Genres · Panel discussion with Matt Fisher (hard rock), Corey Goss (christian contemporay), and Cody Christian (country)

UR’s first Hip-Hop Week
Cultural conversations, karaoke, and dance moves were on the list of events acknowledging a lifestyle that began on the streets of New York.

Hip Hop Week 2025
The University of Richmond hosted its 2nd Annual Hip Hop Week on November 4-6, 2025, inviting students, faculty, and the Richmond community to explore Hip Hop’s profound impact on American culture, industry, and art. Coinciding with National Hip Hop Month, the three-day celebration highlighted how this cultural movement continues to shape music, dance, visual art, marketing, justice, and beyond.
